Driver arrested after striking pedestrian in N Las Vegas

A driver had been arrested and was facing charges after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian in North Las Vegas. According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, the crash had happened on N. Fifth Street, near Brooks Avenue just before midnight on Saturday morning. Investigators had said that a 2019 Dodge Charger had been traveling southbound on N. Fifth Street and approaching Brooks Avenue. At that time, police had said that a woman in her 30s had been lying in the road ”for unknown reasons.” The Charger had hit the woman and had kept going until the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Donald Boike, had stopped near Carey Avenue. Police had believed that speed had been a factor in the collision. When officers had located the Charger on Carey Avenue, the vehicle had had extensive front end damage. Boike had been arrested and had been booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on several charges, including failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death and failure to render aid at an accident scene.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
