17 year old killed in accident with rental truck in Henderson, NV

The City of Henderson Police Department investigated a crash on Friday morning June 23rd, 2023 which involved a pedestrian and a U-Haul. At 10:27 a.m., police arrived on the scene near Pecos Road and Sunshadow Avenue. Investigation revealed that the driver of the U-Haul had turned onto southbound Pecos from Sunshadow and had not noticed the pedestrian, who was riding an electric scooter northbound on Pecos in the southbound lanes. The truck turned in front of the pedestrian, who then slid into the truck. The 17-year-old woman riding the scooter was taken to Sunrise Trauma in critical condition and later died from her injuries. Police mentioned that the U-Haul driver was cooperating and impairment was suspected but not yet determined for the driver.
