One killed and multiple injuries in crash in N Las Vegas

One person was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision in North Las Vegas on Monday, according to the city’s police department. The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Camino Al Norte, just south of Lone Mountain Road. Traffic investigators determined that the driver of a 2016 Honda Civic had ”driven onto the wrong side of the roadway” and crashed head-on into a 2022 Kia Forte. The driver of the Honda, a woman believed to be in her mid-20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police stated.

Three people were inside the Kia at the time of the collision. All three were transported to University Medical Center’s trauma center. As of Tuesday morning, two of the occupants were listed in critical condition, while the injuries to the third occupant were considered non-life-threatening. Police stated that, at the time of this report, they did not know why the Honda driver had crossed into oncoming traffic. However, they do not believe that speed or impairment played a role in the crash.

No more information is available at this time.

Speeding was responsible for an average of 30 deaths per day in 2022, resulting in a total of 11,000 traffic-related fatalities. It was a factor in 29 percent of all deaths on Nevada roads that year. This alarming statistic stresses the importance of following speed limits and driving safely.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
