Motorcyclist dies in crash with an RTC bus in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated a crash where a motorcyclist died in the east valley on Monday afternoon. The scene was at Jimmy Durante Boulevard and E. Tropicana Avenue, and the police responded just after 3 p.m. on January 15. The officers stated that a 37-year-old motorcyclist had run a red light and collided with an RTC bus. According to LVMPD, the bus driver had been traveling east on Tropicana Avenue and had tried to make a left turn onto Jimmy Durante. At that moment, the driver of a 2012 Honda motorcycle had been traveling west on Tropicana at a high rate of speed and had run a red light at the intersection. The man had been ejected from his motorcycle and had been pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. He had then become the ninth traffic-related death in the LVMPD jurisdiction in 2024. The police confirmed that no passengers on the RTC bus had been injured and that the bus driver had shown no signs of impairment.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
