High speed roll-over results in death and serious injury near Desert Inn Road

A 42-year-old woman died on Saturday in a single-vehicle rollover crash that also left a juvenile passenger with injuries described as ”substantial” by local police. The incident occurred at approximately 7:23 p.m. on Hollywood Boulevard, south of Desert Inn Road. According to police, the woman was driving a 2019 Kia Sportage and was traveling ”at a high rate of speed” as the car approached ”a sweeping left-hand turn.” ”The driver of the Kia failed to negotiate the turn and veered off the roadway, colliding with several K-barriers,” stated the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The Kia then overturned multiple times before finally coming to a stop in a desert area southeast of the barriers.

Medical first responders determined that the driver was beyond resuscitation and she was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by police. A 46-year-old male passenger was also in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. The juvenile passenger, who was also injured, was taken to the Pediatric Unit at University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
