Driver and passenger killed when motorcycle strikes curb in Las Vegas

Two people were killed on Sunday night in the southeast Las Vegas Valley when their motorcycle collided with a curb. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. on East Tropicana Avenue, just east of the intersection with South Eastern Avenue. According to evidence found at the scene and statements from witnesses, a blue 2005 Kawasaki Ninja was traveling at a high speed when it lost control and hit the south curb of East Tropicana Avenue.

The impact caused both male riders to be thrown from the motorcycle, and they were pronounced dead by emergency medical services that arrived at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to be a contributing factor. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reminds all drivers, especially motorcyclists, to always obey traffic laws and to never exceed the speed limit for the safety of themselves and others on the road.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
