63 year old driver killed in crash near S Torrey Pines in Las Vegas
On Sunday at 2:57 p.m., tragedy struck at West Laredo Street and South Torrey Pines Drive when a 26-year-old man, Alexis Pineda, drove a stolen 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at a high rate of speed and crashed into a 2022 Dodge Challenger. The crash killed the 63-year-old motorist from Mississippi, who has yet to be identified. After the crash, Pineda and two passengers in his vehicle fled the scene, but were apprehended shortly after. Police reported that Pineda showed signs of impairment and was arrested for a number of charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, DUI, reckless driving, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. According to Clark County Detention Center records, Pineda is due in court for an initial appearance on Monday.
