20 year-old motorcyclist loses control on Maryland Pkwy

A motorcyclist was killed after hitting a curb in the central Las Vegas valley early Sunday morning. At approximately 5:20 a.m., authorities were called to the scene of a crash on North Maryland Parkway, just south of East Bonanza Road. According to witnesses and evidence found at the scene, a black 2010 Yamaha R1 was traveling at a high speed when it approached a curve in the road. The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, failed to navigate the curve and collided with the curb.

Police reported that the impact caused the man to be ejected from the motorcycle and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time. It is unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash. The road was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the scene and cleared the wreckage. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
