These Talented Teens Are Our FUTURE A t the Richard Harris Law Firm, we’ve caught the “Spirit of Nevada” bug. We’re sharing it everywhere and it was this year’s Students With a Cause theme. For the eighth year in a row, the firm hosted the scholarship contest and accepted entries from area high school students. The 2017 “Spirit of Nevada” contest challenged students to explore the State of Nevada and identify what it means to be “Battle Born.” Five winners were chosen from over 150 entries. The 2017 Students with a Cause winners are: Short Story: Lauren Rose (Las Vegas Academy) Poem: Faith Lane (West Career Technical Academy) Artwork: Boris Gramajo (Coronado High School) Video: Andi Nguyen (Las Vegas Academy) Website Design: Pablo Cortez (Advanced Technologies Academy) Students with a Cause encouraged students to express their creativity by submitting original and engaging pieces highlighting the exceptional people, places, charities and social causes making Nevada a better place to live. This year’s competition saw a record-breaking number of entries. “Year after year, I’m completely amazed by the creativity, talent and vision of Clark County high school students,” said Richard Harris, Founder of the Richard Harris Law Firm. “The pride these students have in our great State is inspiring, and our winners did a phenomenal job showcasing what the ‘Spirit of Nevada’ means to them. Congratulations to Lauren, Faith, Boris, Andi, Pablo and all the entrants of this year’s Students with a Cause.” Each winner was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and $500 was awarded to the school of each winning student. Awards were presented at the Richard Harris Law Firm, where each winning student was celebrated for their creativity and ability to capture the Spirit of Nevada. The ceremony was featured on our popular Spirit of Nevada social media series.
