Las Vegas Community Theatre Bursts with Talent In the entertainment capital of the world, there’s no shortage of awe-inspiring and crowd-pleasing stage productions. But venture away from the sparkling lights of the Las Vegas Strip, and you’ll find a thriving theatre scene filled with undiscovered talent. Home to more than a dozen community theatre troupes, Las Vegas provides an eclectic array of productions throughout the city. From classic Broadway hits and romantic musicals to slapstick comedies and evoking ballets, here are a few of our favorite places to check out our city’s burgeoning performing arts scene: Las Vegas Little Theatre Recognized as Southern Nevada’s oldest community theatre, Las Vegas Little Theatre boasts being “theatre by the community, for the community.” The amateur theatre company is in its 40th year and was founded in 1978 by Jack Bell and Jack Nickolson. Las Vegas Little Theatre brings critically acclaimed and award-winning plays such as Master Harold...and the Boys, Purple Hearts, Master Class, A Streetcar Named Desire, and more to the stage. The Smith Center Step inside The Smith Center, in the arts district of Las Vegas, and prepare to be wowed by the world-class performing arts center’s incredible Art Deco architecture and design before you even see the talent on the stage. The Smith Center hosts many performances year- round, but it’s their annual Broadway Las Vegas series, featuring hits like Wicked, Hamilton, School of Rock and more, that keeps fans coming back. 20
