2015 marks the sixth-annual Students with a Cause PSA video contest sponsored by The Richard Harris Law Firm. As part of our law firm’s “Reach Out” program, Students with a Cause is a community-focused video challenge to high-school students throughout Clark County, intended to raise awareness in different areas of safety.
Through the years we have witnessed amazing creativity in the 30-second video submissions sent in by local high-school students. The links below will take you to some of the previous submissions, including the annual winning videos.
2010 Drinking and Driving
2011 Distracted Driving
2012 Pedestrian Safety
2013 Stop Bullying
2014 Helmet Safety
The theme of this year’s contest, “What If…” challenges students to answer the hypothetical question as it relates to improving their lives, that of their family or community, or making for a better society. Students can apply by submitting their unique take on the theme in a 30-second video submission. The winning video will be aired on local TV in June and posted on the Internet.
The goal of the Students with a Cause campaign is to encourage students to creatively express their vision and experiences through a video that will engage, motivate and make a difference in their lives and the community. “My focus is to give students a sense of accomplishment and encourage them to create artistically with a long-term goal in mind,” says Richard Harris, Founder of the Richard Harris Law Firm. “This campaign not only serves as an avenue to be creative, but as an opportunity for students to make a real commitment to their future.”
Entries are judged by a panel of professionals in media and broadcasting who will rank the videos based on content, persuasiveness, creativity, production/presentation and awareness. The Richard Harris Law Firm will reward the top two PSA videos in the contest with a first and second place prize. FIRST PRIZE: $1,500 scholarship and $500 donation to the student’s high school / SECOND PRIZE: $1,000 scholarship.
