Sacramento, CA (July 27, 2020) – One man was killed during a motorcycle accident on the afternoon of Friday, July 24th at the intersection of Highway 12 at Brannan Island Road.
The accident took place at around 1:55 p.m. when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, the motorcyclist and another driver collided with one other.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol and emergency medical personnel both reported to the scene of the collision. Upon arrival, they discovered that the rider was sprawled out in between the lanes of traffic and several other vehicles had stopped.
First responders made every effort to render life-saving medical care, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.
The victim has since been identified by the coroner for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department as 62-year-old Mark Edwards, a resident of Isleton,.
It is unclear at this time whether the other person involved in the accident was one of the drivers stopped along the roadside or if those were just concerned passers-by who were trying to help the injured rider.
In order to determine cause and liability in the accident, it is currently under investigation by the appropriate division of the California Highway Patrol.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mark Williams, at this time.
