The Nevada School Board passed a $2.4 billion budget. The compromised budget included teacher layoffs, a pause in salary increases and other tough decisions. The budget means a cut of $132 per elementary student. This means schools will now have less money for supplies, forcing them to rely more on parents for school supplies once given out. For middle class families this is a burden, but for low income families who already struggle, the load is even bigger. With the average backpack and school supplies running over $300 families must decide between paying their bills and getting their child ready for the school year. With your help, we want every student to be Prepped for School.
Prepped for School
Prepped for school is a local charity created by Foodie Fit & Drais Cares. The purpose is to raise awareness towards public education. Your generous donations will go towards ensuring the students from Robert E. Lake & Arturo Cambeiro will have backpacks and school supplies. Richard Harris is proud to be the title sponsor of this selfless cause.
- Our Prepped for School program provides students with necessary supplies to succeed in the classroom
- Through sponsorship, we provide pre-assembled backpacks filled with essential school supplies from a list provided by the teachers
- Averaging less than $30 per student, the “Prepped” backpacks will include boxes filled with everything from pencils to scissors to glue sticks
Help us reach our goal of $35,000 for school supplies!
