Morongo Valley, CA (August 06, 2020) – A car accident at the intersection of Sundown Trail and Highway 62 caused critical injuries to at least one victim in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 6th.
Based on incident logs maintained by state law enforcement emergency dispatch operators, officers from the California Highway Patrol were notified via phone call of the two-vehicle collision, which took place at about 12:25 a.m.
An official with the California Highway Patrol stated that a vehicle of undetermined make and model and a Kia Sorento collided with one another in the Morongo Valley intersection for reasons that have yet to be determined.
Initial police reports noted that the force of the impact caused one of the vehicles involved in the accident to end up more than 150 feet from the roadway.
Local fire and rescue crews and emergency medical personnel both reported to the site of the collision and rendered vital medical aid to one of the occupants of the Kia who had sustained serious injuries during the crash.
First responders transported the injured victim, who was complaining of back pain, to a nearby medical facility for continued medical care. The identities and medical conditions of those involved in this incident have not yet been released to the public.
In the meantime, crash investigators with the California Highway Patrol initially recorded the accident as a hit-and-run. At this time, however, that information remains unsubstantiated.
The professional inquiry into cause and liability for this crash is still underway by local law enforcement.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
