California Motor Vehicle Crashes

Mendocino CA - One Critically Injured in Shoreline Highway WreckIn the state of California, car accident statistics are usually higher than in other states due to the high population in the Golden State. California continues to be a nationwide leader in terms of car accident statistics. According to information provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, in 2017, Los Angeles saw a total of 92,020 car accident victims who were either injured or lost their lives. On average, there are just under 500,000 California car accidents that take place each and every year, injuring more than 250,000 people and taking the lives of more than 3,000.

Unfortunately, most of these auto accidents are caused by preventable and negligent human behaviors like intoxication and speeding. According to a recent traffic study, approximately 94% of all auto accidents in the United States are caused by correctable yet negligent human behavior. The leading cause for auto accidents in California, currently, is distracted driving. Nearly 75% of all California drivers have admitted to using their cellphone while driving.
