Las Vegas, NV (July 30, 2020) – A car accident involving a driver who is suspected of being under the influence occurred in Las Vegas’ northwest valley and caused various unspecified injuries to at least one of the people involved.
Departmental paperwork from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department states that the accident took place on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, when a single car crashed into a palm tree at the intersection of Oso Blanca Road and North Durango Drive at around 5:50 a.m.
Statements issued by officials at the scene of the accident indicated that the car was heading northbound when it ran into one of the palm trees found along the road’s median.
The occupants of the vehicle, one driver and two passengers, all sustained multiple injuries during the crash. All three were medically assessed by emergency medical personnel on the scene and subsequently transported to a local trauma center for emergency medical care of their crash-related injuries, all of which were classified as non-life-threatening.
Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department authorities maintain that driver intoxication played a major role in this collision.
This crash is currently under investigation by local law enforcement officers in order to determine cause and liability. No additional details are available at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Las Vegas
An average of 12,000 motor vehicle collisions takes place in the state of Nevada every single year. Mirroring national statistics, there are three primary causative factors that are responsible for an overwhelming majority of the state’s car accident-related injuries and vehicular fatalities.
One is drivers who speed excessively and/or drive aggressively (which oftentimes go hand in hand on Nevada roadways). The second common cause of Nevada car accidents is drivers who are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. These drivers pose a risk not only to themselves and the people in their car but to everyone around them on the road as well.
Lastly, the huge percentage of drivers whose focus is on their cell phone, or a passenger, or anything other than the road in front of them presents the single biggest threat to the safety of the state’s motorists.
