Humboldt Co, CA (August 06, 2020) – A motorcycle rider sustained severe injuries during a vehicle collision on Highway 96 on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 5th.
As per the state law enforcement emergency dispatch operators, officers from the California Highway Patrol were notified of the accident via phone call at around 12:20 p.m. near the unincorporated community of Hoopa.
Official incident reports revealed that a silver Ford F-150 pick-up truck and the motorcycle rider collided with one another in the 1600 block of Highway 96 for reasons that have yet to be determined.
Officials from the local fire and rescue department as well as emergency medical personnel reported to the scene of the collision. Upon arrival, they discovered the motorcycle rider lying face down in the roadway as a result of the impact.
First responders transported the victim, who was suffering from critical injuries, to a local trauma center.
The names and medical status’ of those involved in the incident have not yet been made available.
In the meantime, officers from the California Highway Patrol declined to specify whether or not the driver of the pick-up truck sustained any injuries during the accident.
After the crash, the pick-up truck and the motorcycle were both found in the righthand shoulder of the highway.
As crash investigators from the California Highway Patrol are still working to determine cause and liability for this collision, no additional details are currently available
