Car Accidents in Costa Mesa
Any task that requires a driver to take their focus off the road, no matter how mundane, is a huge threat to their safety, the safety of their passengers, and the other cars around them.
Common distracting behaviors in which drivers choose to engage while they are behind the wheel include making and receiving phone calls, sending and receiving texts, attempting to eat, talking to your passenger, engaging in personal grooming habits, and adjusting the stereo, windows, etc. in your vehicle.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration assesses the severity of the nation’s distracted driving epidemic by gathering information pertaining to distracted driving-related collisions. This data focuses on the distractions that are most inclined to influence accident involvement, such as making a call, texting, and getting distracted by a passenger, or a person or event outside of your vehicle.
2,935 distracted driving-related accidents took place in 2017, resulting in the deaths of 3,166 people. This accounts for almost 10% of all fatal car accidents in the United States that year.
