California City, CA (August 18, 2020) – A teenage driver who was killed during a car accident at the intersection of California City Boulevard and Highway 58 on Monday, August 17th has been identified by the local coroner.
As reported by the Kern County Coroner’s Office, Anthony Gregory Perez, a 19-year-old resident of Bakersfield, passed away due to accident-related injuries.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol stated that, for reasons that have yet to be determined, a car driving in the westbound lanes of Highway 58 disregarded a stop sign, causing the driver to collide with another vehicle. The collision took place at approximately 3:45 a.m. near Edwards Air Force Base.
Emergency medical personnel reported to the scene of the accident where they pronounced the driver who was later identified as Perez, dead at the scene.
California Highway Patrol officials did not specify if the other driver received any injuries during the fatal collision and are currently conducting a professional inquiry in order to determine exactly what happened.
