The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced starting Monday, March 3, they will no longer respond to non-injury auto accidents.  The announcement created quite a buzz on social media sites and in the news.  Many consumers do not look forward to this change, since they will be required to deal with a potential adversary, without law enforcement present.  Who decides who is injured – those involved in the accident, or the police? A broken bone, or skin laceration are serious injuries, but some injuries from a car accident are not immediately apparent.  Soft-tissue damage to the neck and back muscles, ligaments and discs may not be felt at the accident scene. Symptoms often develop over a few hours as muscle spam and pain sets in. Neck and back injuries often require physical therapy, pain management and sometimes surgery.

Never had to hire an attorney for a personal injury case and not sure how to approach it? Here are some guidelines on what to expect from the type of lawyer who can help make your case successful.

Communicating With Your Lawyer

• First and foremost, your attorney should always keep you informed about the progress of your case.
• Your attorney should discuss typical protocol for the case with you upfront so you know what to, realistically, expect. This includes an estimate of how long he or she expects the case to last and possible outcomes for the case.

Each year at Christmas time, the Richard Harris Law Firm holds a competition between teams, to decorate their pods.  The winning team receives a prize, but according to Michelle Scott, 2012’s winner, the prize is not the motivating factor.  “I just do it because I want to win,” said Scott when asked why she puts so much effort into the competition.   One of her competitors, Lauren Gasca, who is in the pod next to Michelle, says, “I do this because I want to beat Michelle Scott!”  When asked if her pod is complete, Lauren said, “I’ll probably finish it Friday morning, before the judging begins.”  This is also strategically too late for Ms. Scott to make changes to her pod.

We truly enjoy helping people. We are here to help you and we are happy to do so. We’ve come to look at our field a bit differently than its perception. We see those in the legal field as having the opportunity to be the super heroes of product liability and personal responsibility. May sound a bit dramatic but it’s true. Good lawyers are the reason product manufacturers take the safety of their products more seriously than ever. We’re the reason why additional steps to prevent negligence are taken every day and why labels are becoming more and more specific; so Americans know the truth about what they consume.

The lawyers and staff of the Richard Harris Law Firm were treated to a very enjoyable Holiday gathering this past Saturday, December 7, 2013.  The evening began with a reception and dinner at the Rio Hotel and Casino’s Voodoo Steakhouse located 50 floors above Las Vegas.  The view was incredible and the food was just as impressive.  Once desert was finished we then had the pleasure of attending the Penn & Teller show.

One of our own was selected for Penn & Teller’s first big magic trick of the night, when Catherine Barnhill was selected from the audience to come on stage.  Her cell phone was taken, then disappeared and was later found inside a plastic bag, inside a fish (…yes, a real fish from a seafood restaurant), inside a sealed box, under a seat in the audience.
